Here’s some essential background information about what took place, starting in 1947, when this relatively small nation in the Middle East called the Land of Palestine was 90 percent occupied by the Palestinian people. That’s when that country began to go through a radical transformation.
This four-stage map depicts how that radical transformation took place. The first map on the left shows the Land of Palestine before the transformation began in 1947. Then, in the second, the Israelis made up 50 percent of the population when they entered. In the third map, they increased to about 75 percent, and then in the fourth, they went to 90 percent, and they were in total control.
To get to that control, the Israelis had launched attacks on the Palestinians time and again, and, after decades of fighting, forced them to live in small areas in that country called Gaza and the West Bank.
The Palestinians had lost their country to the Israelis and then became subservient to their new rulers.
Israel did not enter this Land of Palestine to work with the Palestinians to create a two-state solution, as they were expected to do, but rather, they waged war to take over the entire country and its people. And, from that date to today, these subjugated people have been treated like Israeli chattel.
What’s going on in that region of the world is now being called genocide, with many thousands of men, women, and children being murdered. This is the modern-day version of Hitler’s butchering of Jews during World War II. And now Netanyahu is doing to the Palestinians what the Nazis did to the Jews.
The Israelis never should have taken those extreme actions, and could have worked with the Palestinians, but they wanted the entire country. So, they went on these murderous attacks to take control.
The problem today with most people in America, and in this government, is that they are unaware of when and how this Israeli takeover took place. While they watch the brutality taking place, they are prone to believe that the Palestinians caused the problems that led to this extra-long war. And, of course, that’s very faulty thinking.
Now the Israelis are planning to take over all of Gaza to control everything, including the lives of the people, history repeating itself, and in a terrible way. But, as we are finding out, it’s not the majority of the Israeli people who are demanding that their government should continue to inflict these terrible atrocities on Gaza; it’s Netanyahu’s major objective.
This is from The Atlantic: “Israelis want Benjamin Netanyahu to say sorry and go away. A survey released this week by the Israel Democracy Institute found that a staggering 87 percent of Israelis think the prime minister should take responsibility for the events of Oct. 7, and 73 percent want him to resign either now or after the Gaza war. These figures might seem shocking to outsiders, but they are old news. Since Oct. 7, the Israeli public has consistently told pollsters that it wants Netanyahu gone—a preference that has held through every twist and turn of the war and has, if anything, intensified over time.”
The majority of the Washington politicians, including many Democrats, watch as Israel commits these atrocities and they just don’t give a damn. They keep sending powerful weaponry to Israel for this raging war in Gaza. Many decent Americans have continually condemned this bloody war, which the international ICC agency has labeled as genocidal and has called Netanyahu a criminal. He is subject to arrest if he goes to the wrong country. But that hasn’t deterred this criminal in the least, as he has shifted his attacks on these helpless people into high gear.
In this article in Common Dreams, Sen. Bernie Sanders condemns this war of genocide and Netanyahu by saying, “Starving children to death as a weapon of war is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention, the Foreign Assistance Act, and basic human decency. Civilized people do not starve children to death. What is going on in Gaza is a war crime, committed openly and in broad daylight and continuing every single day.”
He couldn’t be more right, but former President Biden disagreed with his thoughts. Biden, seeing this genocide happening day after day, as a self-professed catholic Christian, should have also condemned it, but he did the opposite. He approved the shipments of highly powerful weapons to Israel time and time again. And, for these terrible actions on his part, he is being called by many to be complicit in this genocidal war. And I think that’s the right belief.
Now, there’s an excellent book by a great author, Peter Beinhart, a Jew and a strong supporter of the Jewish people. It’s called “Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza—A Reckoning.”. And it tells the entire story of how The Land of Palestine became The Land of Israel, so very accurately. Beinart, of the Jewish faith, is fair to all sides of this conflict, but tells it like it is, a terrible war that should be ended immediately, if not sooner. A great, very truthful book.
One more excellent quote by Abby Zmet entitled, “Let Them Die Alone, and Hungry.” “Israel has grandiosely labeled its latest genocidal move “Operation Gideon’s Chariots” wherein, moving from siege to seizure, it plans the bloody conquest, ethnic cleansing, and permanent recolonization of Gaza, using the rhetoric of holy war to justify unholy mass destruction—this, even as many of the Palestinian children who’ve somehow survived their savage 18 months of carnage now slowly starve to death.”
How in the world are these monumental attacks, this ongoing genocide, going to end, before the entire population of Gaza is wiped out? Is there any way? Well, don’t expect the worst President in America’s history, Trump, to do anything to stop Netanyahu because he will just keep condoning the genocide and sending him powerful weaponry. It is becoming very evident that Netanyahu is determined to eliminate the entire Palestinian population, and this criminal Prime Minister must be stopped—and soon!
When trying to figure out how to finally end this genocide this 73 percent of Israelis believe that they must see that the elections in October 2026 are conducted. And, if they are, then Yoav Gallant, or someone like him, should be elected as the new Prime Minister. The time has come when these people have had enough, and Netanyahu must be soundly defeated.
Then Israel will have a great opportunity to end this conflict, bring peace to that region of the world, and start the process of establishing a two-state solution, to create an Israeli/Palestine government and country.
As Marsha Lederman, the Canadian journalist and daughter of Holocaust survivors, said recently, “In the annals of history, Benjamin Netanyahu’s name will be a cursed one.”
